Have you ever had a sonic experience?
This is slightly different from listening to music you enjoy for fun, dancing, singing, or traditional uses. A sonic experience is a total sensory and emotional impact on the body supported by sound. The bass may vibrate or mimic a heartbeat. Sound frequencies measured in Hertz feel sensational – calming or energizing. There are layers of sound, often coming from different directions, so that your sense of hearing becomes engaged. A sonic experience may shift your mood. It is more than a song – it is an intentional atmosphere made of sounds.
Well, a sonic experience is often what ambient music achieves, and it is the meditative space I share with you in my songwriting. When I was a teenager, I was lucky to be enjoying my adolescent years in the 1990s when electronic productions melded with ambient and New Age music in the mainstream pop music scene for a while. Around that time, I had just started working as a piano player, and my preference for instrumental music really gravitated towards artists like Enya, Enigma, Deep Forest, and eventually, that opened up my interest in Moby, St. Germain, and others who walked the line of dance music and mood music with holistic flares.
As a songwriter, I create all kinds of music. I work with different artists, and I have been exploring sound healing and ambient music production pretty heavily now for the last 5 years. After the pandemic, I hit a snag of being limited to my home and I was able to pick up better skills for production and home recording. That led to The Calm PRINciples album, which is heavy on sound healing and sound frequencies. In between that album and my new singles coming out in 2026, I fused my previous singer-songwriter flares with electronic production. Some songs were collaborations that came out as singles in 2021 and 2022, but I saved a few songs for later use.
Here we are!
A Long Time Coming is out now – a 5 minute ambient instrumental single that begins with a heartbeat-inspired sensory break and builds layers of neoclassical sounds into a sonic experience… from me to you.
I think it’s the type of music people benefit from when they listen to it, because it’s not packed with words or heavy sounds to impress you with instrumental genius. It’s really meant to be an experience that decompresses the listener without noticing. A 5-minute break? A 5-minute vacation? It has potential to join almost any playlist and go unnoticed as a misfit in a sea of pop music favorites. I think it’s the type of song you can get lost in, and I hope you do. 😉
If you enjoy my music, please, share it. As an independent artist, I do all of my own work to promote and create, and I do have a wonderful marketing and artist development team supporting me, but I do it all without a label, manager, or PR team. Add the song to your playlist and share it on your social media! I’d be most grateful.
